Can I have cloudy water with an Ego3 filter in my hot tub?
"Basically absolutely no, because the Ego3 has been tested ten thousand times and always works 100% and filters 100%! With Ego3 hot tub filters, there is no cloudy hot tub water in operation!"
There are, however, two reasons that one might mistakenly see as filter errors due to ignorance, which can lead to cloudy hot tub water:
- The pH value is too high or the alkalinity is too low. The water becomes cloudy. Unfortunately, this is a discoloration of the water and not cloudiness caused by suspended particles. Therefore, it cannot be filtered by either the Ego3 filter or the cartridge filter. Remedy: Adjust pH value/TA value. Then the cloudiness will go away on its own; it is a discoloration of the water. It cannot be filtered.
- the water becomes cloudy at the beginning of use. This is due to a positive side effect of the Ego3 filter - the pipe cleaning effect. The Ego3 filter has about 2-3 times the flow rate of the cartridge filter (when new, even more so otherwise). Due to the poor flow of the cartridge filter and because it cannot filter anything below 40 microns, the finest suspended particles accumulate in the pipes. The Ego3 hot tub filter now ensures that this dirt is "rubbed" out of the pipes. As a result, the water becomes cloudy until all the dirt is finally out of the pipes. This can take hours, days, or in cases of already very strong pipe contamination, even 3-4 weeks. New dirt continuously comes out of the pipes and is immediately filtered out again. Turning the pumps on and off, as well as operating the distribution valves and air valves, speeds up the cleaning process, as this causes rapid changes in flow. But afterwards, your pipes are finally clean, just as they should be.
"We guarantee that the Ego3 filter always filters 100%."
How do I test the pipeline cleaning effect?
"Simply reinstall the old filter for a short time. The water will become clear again in the short term because the dirt will no longer come out of the pipes immediately. But that shouldn't be the case. The dirt needs to be removed from the pipes! Once that is accomplished, you will also notice that you need less chemicals because a source of bacteria has been reduced."
Summary "cloudy hot tub water" despite Ego3:
- "only adjust the pH/TA value in case of milky discoloration"
- "If there is initial cloudiness, just let it run. Our filter cleans your pipes. And that's a good thing!"
